Biography
Dr. Roeland van Opijnen graduated from the United States Air Force Academy with a degree in Chemistry and went on to receive his Medical Degree from Tulane University School of Medicine. He completed his Residency in OB/GYN at Ochsner Foundation Hospital in New Orleans and is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. van Opijnen treats patients at the New Orleans VA and serves as the Veteran Care Coordinator for LGBTQ Veterans. He also is the Medical Director for Tulane Residents and Medical Students at the VA and is gratified by teaching our future physicians and caring for his patients. Dr. van Opijnen is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a fellow of the American Academy of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is actively involved in improving patient safety through team training instruction. He is a skilled laparoscopist and is certified on the Intuitive DaVinci Surgical Robotic System.
