Kejing Song, DVM - Medical Research Specialist
Dr. Kejing Song received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from China Agricultural University in 1987 and Master of Science (MS) degree from University of Iowa in 1998. She is specialized in molecular biology, immunology and animal sciences. After completion of her training in U.S., Dr. Song has worked in the biomedical research field for 20 years, published more than 20 peer-reviewed papers, and managed fluorescence-activated cell sorting (FACS) and cell imaging core facilities. Currently, Dr. Song is working with Dr. Jay Kolls focusing on the Next Generation Sequencing Core supported by the Tulane Center for Translational Research in Infection & Inflammation. Her another interest is to study the antibody specificity and lung function in cystic fibrosis patients.
Alanna Wanek - Medical Research Technician
Alanna has a degree in electrical engineering with a focus on big data analysis and bioinformatics. She is currently applying shotgun metagenomics to RNA-sequenced samples from severe asthma patients as part of a project to help establish a new paradigm on which novel therapeutics for steroid-refractory severe asthma could be developed. She also manages the data acquisition and data processing for the NextGen Sequencing Core which offers DNA and RNA sequencing on Illumina’s NextSeq 550 and single-cell analysis using 10X Genomic’s Chromium Controller.
