With the core program in the School Of Medicine, the TIPS is supported by several schools and programs across Tulane University. The Institute provides the infrastructure to track physician scientists in training, facilitate collaborations and networking, and provide career mentoring and skill-building opportunities.

The long-term goals of the TIPS are to continuously enhance structures and practices to:

  • Grow and support a Physician Scientist workforce across the spectrum from students, trainees to senior investigators and mentors
  • Increase the scientific engagement and scholarly productivity of physician scientist that advance the field to improve human health
  • Foster professional identity as Physician Scientists at all levels
  • Recognize and promote accomplishments of our Physician Scientists trainees and faculty to the local, regional, national and international scientific communities

Mentoring Architecture for Physician Scientists

TIPS utilizes a Mentoring Architecture for Physician Scientists designed to leverage current training opportunities and serve as the overall architecture that provides integrated activities to support the development of Physician Scientists. These activities  increase exposure to research, provide innovative skills training, and support a diverse PS community and career development.
