Welcome to the Department of Ophthalmology at Tulane School of Medicine. Our department is dedicated to excellence in training and clinical care and to advancing research to discover and develop new, more effective treatments. The department has a long, illustrious history of attracting strong faculty dedicated to teaching and of providing pro bono services to those in great need of our care.
Our faculty physicians are among the most respected ophthalmologists in the field and attract patients regionally, nationally, and internationally. We provide clinical services at Tulane Medical Center, the VA Gulf Coast Health Care System in Biloxi, MS; the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System in New Orleans; University Medical Center; the Alexandria VA Medical Center in Alexandria, LA; and Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, LA.
We offer a full range of ophthalmic services, including expertise in cornea and external disease; premium cataract surgery; treatment of eye infections, glaucoma, and vitreo-retinal diseases; pediatric ophthalmology; strabismus; contact lenses, including scleral lenses; refractive surgery and comprehensive ophthalmology. Currently, we are undertaking promising research studies, particularly in the areas of corneal transplantation and novel treatments for glaucoma.
While continuing to build our clinical services and research programs, our primary mission is teaching residents, fellows, and medical students. We are pleased to have so many outstanding individuals among the faculty, staff, residents and fellows in the Department of Ophthalmology.
