Monday: Microbiology conference at UMC microbiology lab.
Tuesday: Noon conference at VA. Topics range widely, including microbiology, immunology, and HIV.
Wednesday: Tulane ID Section Conference.
This conference is made up of a variety of activities, depending on the week. Journal club style discussions led by faculty and case presentations led by fellows are regular staples of this conference. Faculty present a “core topic” from a longitudinal two-year curriculum once a month during these conferences as well.
Thursday: HIV conference, UMC HOP clinic
This thirty minute conference before weekly continuity clinics spans a range of topics in HIV medicine, from HIV primary care, to antiretroviral therapies, to drug resistance management, to OIs, to prevention, to literature of historic significance.
Friday: Citywide Infectious Disease conference, Ochsner
This conference is a collaborative effort run jointly by Tulane Adult ID, Tulane Pediatric ID, LSU ID, and Ochsner ID. These conferences are typically grand rounds style presentations by local, regional, and national experts. A fellow from one of the training programs presents a case encountered in their clinical training once a month.
