Dr. Isis Smith joined the Section of General Internal Medicine at Tulane University as a clinical Instructor of Medicine in 2017. Dr. Smith’s practice is located at the UMCNO Ambulatory Clinic where she sees adult patients and supervises internal medicine residents. In addition, she also works at the Total Health Clinic providing primary care for HIV patients.
Originally from Brazil, she received her Bachelor of Sciences degree in Biochemistry from the University of Washington in 2010. She then completed her medical degree at University of Washington School of Medicine in 2014.
After medical school, she joined the Brigham and Women’s Internal Medicine Division of General Internal Medicine Primary Care program and completed her internal medicine residency in 2017. There she also worked with HIV patients and completed an HIV certification for internal medicine providers. Clinically her major interests are working with underserved populations, with a focus on HIV positive and Latino populations. She is also interested in undergraduate and graduate medical education and increasing diversity within the field of medicine.
