I write and perform folk/indie songs at local open mic nights. If I have a full day off, I'll go for a 40-mile bike ride on the Mississippi River Trail.
Favorite place in New Orleans
While I was in town for my fellowship interview, I visited Preservation Hall. Seeing an amazingly talented group of jazz musicians really get down at this famous old "club" (it looks like the inside of an old one-room schoolhouse) was everything I was hoping for in New Orleans.
Pulmonary and critical care is a neglected area of global health. Critical care is a particularly resource-intensive area of medicine, but there are ICU-level resources even in the poorest countries in the world, and training is needed to make the best use of these resources for the sickest patients.
In my career, I hope to help provide education and create partnerships for pulmonary and critical care in the developing world. I would like to stay in academic medicine. I hope to get married, have a couple of kids, and keep making music.
