Interested candidates apply through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Applications and required documents, such as letters of recommendations, transcripts, research projects, personal statement, curriculum vitae, etcetera are downloaded by our residency coordinator.
Resident applicants are expected to have graduated from an accredited Medical School in the United States. Candidates from Foreign and U.S. Territory School of Medicine will be reviewed on an individual basis. Any accepted candidate must be able to obtain a Louisiana Medical License.Read More
The residency program director and faculty members review all completed applications. A group decision is made about who to invite for an interview with our program. Applicants are notified and scheduled for an interview date.
During the interview process each applicant is interviewed by faculty members on a one-on-one basis. These one-on-one interviews assist faculty members with forming a subject and objective perspective of the applicant.
At the end of the interview process the faculty members meet and score the resident applicants in writing on an evaluation form. The ranked applicants are then placed on a numerical ranking list that is forwarded to ERAS.
