Phillip V. McAllister, MD is a board certified, fellowship-trained Neurosurgeon that specializes in complex spine surgery at Baton Rouge General Hospital. Dr. McAllister is a graduate of The University of Georgia where he majored in Zoology and later received his doctorate degree in Veterinary Medicine. He then went on to receive his medical doctorate in 1988 from the Medical College of Georgia. Dr. McAllister completed his internship in 1989 and his residency in Neurological Surgery in 1994 at West Virginia University in Morgantown, West Virginia. Dr. McAllister then went on to complete a fellowship in reconstructive spinal surgery at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Dr. McAllister has a strong professional interest in complex spine surgery. Dr. McAllister is a board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. McAllister holds memberships in several professional societies, including the Congress of Neurosurgery, American Academy of Neurological Surgeons, American Medical Association, the Joint Section of Spine and Peripheral Nerves and North America Spine Society.
