Kristen is a licensed psychologist and certified school psychologist serving as an infant specialist for T-BEARS (Tulane Building Early Relationships Support and Services). In her role with T-BEARS, Kristen supports families with babies in promoting development and bonding and in addressing symptoms of perinatal depression and anxiety. She specializes in the assessment and treatment of children with emotional and behavioral disorders and uses an approach grounded in building relationships among the home, school, and community and in emphasizing strengths. Kristen’s experience includes psychoeducational assessment, treatment, and consultation in schools and therapeutic settings for students with significant mental health concerns. Her interests include widening the implementation of trauma informed care and the impact of trauma exposure on a child’s ability to access education, in particular, the issue of discipline disproportionality. Additional interests include vicarious traumatization, understanding the comorbidity of internalizing and externalizing symptoms and disorders, and the advocacy of greater access to mental health services in educational settings.
