My primary clinical interests are severe mental illness and risk assessment/violence management and prevention. I employ a trauma-informed, recovery-oriented model of treatment. My teaching focus is forensic psychiatry: the intersection of mental health or development and the law. I perform evaluations of children, adolescents, and adults that are used in legal proceedings. I supervise child and adolescent psychiatry fellows, general psychiatry residents, and forensic fellows in many topics including psychotherapy, consultation-liaison, psychopharmacology, and forensic evaluations.
