Welcome to the Tulane University SOM Wellness program!
Stress and burnout are extremely prevalent among healthcare workers. We would like to address this problem head-on by offering services to medical students, residents, and staff physicians.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about the below-listed resources.

Being active as a resident is very important. MANY residents put this off because they just don’t have the time and it’s also a low priority. HOWEVER, any form of activity can work wonders. You will see a rise in energy, motivation, strength, and mood. Even just a few days a week can be so valuable to decrease stress and burnout.
How to get started?
A great way to get familiar with groups in the New Orleans area is to follow them on Instagram or Facebook. There are many free or cheap fun things to do around town. Also following @Tulane_surgery will give you updates on upcoming group fitness opportunities.

There is a number to reach someone to speak with 24/7: 1-800-273-TALK. Also, you can go to liveandworkwell.com (access code Tulane) to see more benefits. If you or anyone needs someone to reach out to, you are always welcome to call your wellness chief, Morgan Martin, or any other resident as I am sure they would be more than happy to listen.
The University understands how challenging it can be to balance your work and personal life and we are committed to helping you do just that! That's why the University contracts with an outside vendor – Optum, to provide an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) https://hr.tulane.edu/benefits/employee-assistance-program.
