Description

This workshop provided hands-on experience with methods used to assess professionalism in medical students.  Participants discussed successes and difficulties that they have experienced as they assess medical students and discuss standards of professional behavior.

Objectives:

  • Translate ideals of professionalism to professional behaviors of medical students
  • Provide data about the correlation of professional performance by medical students and residents with their subsequent performance as practicing physicians
  • Describe how professionalism is assessed in clerkships
  • Discuss social networking and professionalism
  • Discuss respectful interactions by house staff and faculty towards students
