Examsoft Troubleshooting


PC Requirements

Operating System: 32-bit and 64-bit Versions of Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, and Windows 10 Only genuine
U.S.-English, French, Portuguese, Swedish, and British versions of Windows Operating Systems are supported
CPU Processor: 1.86Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo or greater
Hard Drive: 1GB of available space
Microsoft .Net 4.5 Framework installed
A working USB port is required (Newer devices may require an adapter)
Screen Resolution must be 1024 x 768 or higher

Surface Pro Requirements

Surface Pro 1, 2, & 4 (Non-Pro Surface devices are NOT supported)
Surface 3 (Pro and Non-Pro devices ARE supported)
External Keyboard (USB or Bluetooth) required. Bluetooth keyboards must be paired prior to launching exam
Hard Drive: 1GB or higher available space
Screen Resolution/Display Settings must be set to 150%

Mac Requirements

CPU = Intel processor
RAM = 2 GB
Hard Drive = 1 GB or higher free disk space
Operating System:

Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks
Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite
Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan
Mac OS X 10.12 Sierra

Screen Resolution must be 1024 x 768 or higher
Server version of Mac OS X is not supported
A working USB port is required (Newer devices may require an adapter)


  • Go to
  • Click on the Login Button under the Exam Takers area
  • Login using your Tulane Email address and Password
  • Go to the SoftTest Tab in the upper left hand corner
  • Click on the Download button.
  • Once downloaded, launch and follow the instructions to register SoftTest
  • Accept the terms and conditions (scrolling to the end)
  • You will be prompted to select an institution.  Please select 'Tulane University School of Medicine' (tulanemed)
  • It will then open a web browser to the Tulane University Login
Taking the Practice Test

  • Launch Examplify
  • Log In using your Tulane UserID and Password
  • On the left-hand side of the screen are your available exams.  Click on the one beginning with 'Exam Check'.  
  • Then click on the 'Download Exam' button
  • Enter in the Exam Password: 'NOQuiz1' (note this is CASE sensitive)
  • Click on 'Start'
  • Follow the Exam procedures as given.  It may take up to 2 minutes to open the exam in Secure Mode.  Please be patient.  
  • An exam notice will be shown, click on 'Next'
  • You will then be prompted to enter a start code.  Follow the instructions

Once you open the exam understand where the controls are:

  • At the top there is a dropdown for Exam Controls (Hide Exam and Submit Exam)
  • There will be a paperclip in the top bar for any attachments (in this case, a Standard Values Sheet)
  • There is the Clock.  This is both indicating how long you have left but also allows you to set alarms to pace yourself.
  • There is a Highlighter function allowing you to markup parts of the stem with different colors.
  • Font/Magnification icon.  Pressing on this will allow you to modify/magnify the fonts.
  • There is an area on the right hand which is divided into a couple of areas:  Attached images (allowing magnification), Calculator (if allowed), and Notes (if allowed)
  • On the left-hand side of the screen are the item numbers with an indicator as to whether its been answered or not.  You can click to any question directly by clicking on these numbers.
  • There is also a Next-Previous Button on the lower right-hand side of the question.

Run through the practice exam, familiarizing yourself with the controls.  Then click on ‘Exam Controls’->Submit Exam
Close out your exam and upload.

Downloading Your Exam

  1. Open Examplify
  2. Login using your Tulane Email address and password
  3. Available Exams will appear on the left-hand side of the screen.
  4. Select the Exam your are supposed to be taking and click on the Download Button. You should see a download confirmation.
  5. Enter the Opening Password and start the exam.
