The physical therapy team includes seven physical therapists and three physical therapy technicians that average at least eight years of experience of working exclusively with orthopedic and sports medicine patients.
Many therapists have advanced degrees at the doctorate level and specialization certifications in orthopedics. Tulane’s sports medicine clinicians regularly host student interns from University-based physical therapy training programs around the country that recognize our institution as a leader in physical therapy education.
Every patient will experience a comprehensive evaluation of muscle strength, endurance, power, and movement quality. Therapists will utilize a wide variety of manual therapy techniques including joint mobilizations, instrument assisted soft tissue manipulation and dry needling to restore function to the body, reduce pain, and help prevent future injury.
Physical therapy at the Tulane Institute of Sports Medicine may also include treatment in the in-house Reily Aquatic Sports Therapy Pool and/or treatment on our Alter-G (anti-gravity treadmill) to reduce joint impact and pain while rehabilitating from injury or surgery. We also provide conditioning and screening for return to sport utilizing Biodex isokinetic testing and sport-specific movement assessment on Tulane’s sports turf field located outside of the Reily Center.
From getting our athletes back in the game to helping grandparents lift their grandchildren, the Tulane Institute of Sports Medicine is here to help you regain your mobility and return to doing the things you love to do.
