S.L.A.M. is a coalition of student-led organizations representing marginalized and underrepresented populations in medicine and advocating for racial, economic, and gender equity at Tulane University School of Medicine. S.L.A.M. is composed of the Student National Medical Association (SNMA), Latin American Medical Student Association (LAMSA), Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association (APAMSA), and Medical Student Pride Alliance (MSPA). In promoting inclusivity and equality regardless of racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, gender, or sexual identity, we will collectively collaborate with the administration to develop policies and curriculum changes, which promote inclusionary practices, culturally sensitive medical education, and the development of culturally humble physicians. Additionally, we aim to advocate for our collective communities within New Orleans through community service, education, and health advocacy projects in partnership with local leaders and groups.
