Physiology Masters Student Testimonials

Andy Ginsburg "In the span of a year and a half, I was able to get my MCAT score from a 493 to a 509. I would be remiss if I did not give some credit to the Masters of Physiology program at Tulane for this accomplishment…I cannot express enough for how grateful I am to you and the Tulane physiology master’s program for what it has done for me. The knowledge I gained both from class and from doing the research paper on how bariatric surgeries effect type 2 diabetes will absolutely help me in medical school.”

Natasha Klingenberg “My main goal when applying for a master’s program was to be a part of a rigorous medical curriculum that not only would prepare me for medical school, but challenge me and teach me in-depth concepts to add to my advance education goals. I felt Tulane was a wonderful fit! The medical school professors taught the Master’s of Physiology program in the heart of the medical school and exposed me to research opportunities in medical school labs and volunteer opportunities at the student-run clinic. The MCAT elective course used Kaplan resources and was vital in my decision to attend Tulane and helped me succeed. I am now a medical school student at Tulane and would recommend this program to those interested in an in-depth learning experience and who also plan on continuing to medical school or any other advanced degree.”

Nick Huisingh “Above all else, Tulane's physiology program exposed me to a bridge between the minutia of doctoral studies and the breadth of medicine. Physiology is the science of medicine, and this program provides a foundation to be successful in medical school.”

Matthew Hennrikus“My experience in the Tulane Physiology Master’s Program was vital to my professional growth. The best aspect of the program is the faculty. You have the opportunity to work closely with professors who are experts in their fields. I was able to learn human physiology with depth and nuance. Whether we were covering GI, Cardiovascular, Renal, or Neurophysiology there was always a faculty member who could explain and present the material in an understandable manner. Having easy access to the faculty allowed me to learn the material better than I might have in a different program. I finished the program with confidence and a high grasp of human physiology. Additionally the opportunity to do research with faculty was also indelible. Learning the research process, reading scientific journals and learning how to develop experiments and interpret results was very important to my education. I published a paper in the American Journal of Physiology with my mentor at the end of the program. The knowledge I gained has been vital to my success in medical school, physiology is involved in all aspects of the curriculum.”
