Biography

Dr. Alamo is a clinical instructor with appointments in the Department of Medicine and Office of Associate Dean for Clinical Research and Training at Tulane University. Dr. Alamo is also the Clinical Research Navigator of the Louisiana Clinical and Translational Science Professional Development Core. She works with clinical and translational research faculty and trainees at the LSU and Tulane Health Sciences Centers (LSUHSC and TUHSC) and Pennington Biomedical Research Center (PBRC) in the development of innovative, investigator-initiated clinical trials. Dr. Alamo serves as a resource for PIs from all three institutions to help enrich and facilitate the progress of clinical research protocols from conception to analysis and publication of data.

Dr. Alamo earned her medical degree from Howard University in Washington DC. She completed two years of clinical training in the Department of Surgery at the University of Florida and worked two additional years in a basic science laboratory with Dr. Alicia Mohr in the Division of Trauma and Care Surgery.

Dr. Alamo teaches two graduate courses in the Tulane MSCR program, including Cultural Competence in Health Care and Protocol Design and Writing. The Cultural Competence in Health Care is also offered for medical students at Tulane University. She also acts as a clinical preceptor for first, second, and third year Tulane medical students in community clinics.
