Students admitted and matriculated in the Physician Scientist Program can initiate their research training in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology by rotating in one of our faculty laboratories during the summer before entering medical school. M.D./Ph.D. students complete their first two years of medical school as well as Step I of the USMLE before engaging full-time in the Ph.D. training portion of their education.
MD/PhD students trained in Microbiology and Immunology at Tulane, acquire a set of enviable skills that prepares them to become leaders as academic and clinical scientist with strong focus in infectious diseases, cancer, and immunology.
