Warren R. Bourgeois, III, MD, and Usha Ramadhyani, MD, Student Research Endowed Fund
This endowment was established in 2013 and supports up to two medical students for a period of 8-10 weeks during the Summer. Drs. Bourgeois and Ramadhyani were inspired to donate to the Department of Physiology because of their daughter’s experience as a student researcher. This was the first endowment established in the Department of Physiology and marks a particularly exciting milestone.

Randa A. and L. Gabriel Navar Academic Excellence Fund
Our newest initiative is to create the Randa A. and L. Gabriel Navar Academic Excellence Fund. Randa, my beloved wife, passed away in September 2020. One of her favorite pastimes was hosting our international students and fellows at our home. With the establishment of this Academic Excellence Fund, her legacy will live on by helping provide stipend support for the trainees in our department.
We have a goal of raising $100,000 in gifts and pledges over the next three years to provide much needed support to our students and postdoctoral fellows. Our trainees are our most important assets, and they should have consistent funding through the completion of their training. To boost our giving, we have an offer to match any donation over $1,000.
Through this fund, we will acknowledge the legacy that we would like to leave for our students and postdoctoral fellows who will follow in our footsteps.
