Since its founding in 1993, Tulane Cancer Center has served as a nucleus for promoting and supporting trailblazing cancer-focused basic and translational research, leading-edge multidisciplinary cancer care, pioneering investigational treatment and prevention trials, and intensive preparation and education of the next generation of cancer researchers and physician scientists.
Research That Pushes the Boundaries: As an academic cancer center, we are dedicated to fostering an environment of research collaboration, allowing our investigators to push the boundaries of scientific discovery and uncover breakthroughs that will shape the future of cancer treatment. Our lab bench-to-bedside and back-again philosophy has established a pipeline to translate key laboratory discoveries into next-generation treatment options for our patients and brought our community and patients’ voices into the research process.
Innovative, Patient-Centered Care: Providing compassionate, comprehensive and innovative cancer care is central to our mission. Our patient-centered, multidisciplinary philosophy ensures that our patients receive the benefit of a team of experts customizing a treatment plan specifically tailored to their needs, as well as the support and services they require to navigate their cancer journeys with resilience and hope. And our commitment to the possibilities of clinical research allows our patients access to investigational approaches to cancer prevention and treatment that could become tomorrow’s standard of care.
Education: A Cornerstone of Our Mission: Knowledge is a powerful tool in the battle against cancer. Through focused mentorship and training, our faculty have helped launch the independent research careers of many of today’s cancer investigators, who are now making their own inroads into unraveling the mysteries of cancer, and we continue to focus our efforts on supporting and preparing the next generation of brilliant minds. We also prioritize empowering our community through educational programs and outreach efforts aimed at promoting prevention, early detection, successful treatment, rehabilitation and survivorship.
These are exciting times for our Center. Our new clinical partnership with LCMC Health substantially extends our clinical footprint, allowing us to reach out further than ever before in providing superior academic cancer care to an expanding community. And through our continuing partnership within the Louisiana Cancer Research Center our basic science researchers and physician scientists continue to investigate and collaborate while making meaningful contributions to the global fight against cancer.
