Professor of Medicine
Director, Tulane Center for Aging

Welcome to the website of The Tulane Center for Aging!  This university-wide center was established in the fall of 2007.  Its goal is to harness the multidisciplinary resources at the three campuses of Tulane University on behalf of a graying population.  This will be achieved through innovative research, education, and service.

Our purpose is to enhance existing programs and to create new ones where the need and opportunity arises.  The center is located physically in the Department of Medicine at Tulane University School of Medicine.  Growth of the center has been rapid; we now boast more than 40 members.  A Distinguished Lecture in Aging series was instituted, and this was followed by a seminar program.  We host a monthly Aging Interest Group meeting that alternates between the uptown and downtown campuses.  These gatherings have fostered the development of several interdisciplinary research groups and new funding possibilities.

The Tulane Center for Aging is dedicated to the strengthening of training and service in the areas of geriatric medicine and gerontology in cooperation with the Section of General Internal Medicine and Geriatrics in the Department of Medicine and the School of Social Work, respectively.  Our educational activities reach beyond the university and into the community.  I invite you to visit this page periodically to follow developments in the field of aging at Tulane University.
