Applicant Information

We participate in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) and the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). We offer 10 categorical positions each year.

Application Requirements

Applicants should apply through ERAS and participate in the NRMP Main Residency Match. A complete application should include:

  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Personal Statement
  • Medical School Transcript
  • Dean’s Letter (MSPE)
  • USMLE Scores
  • Three letters of recommendation are required, preferably including:
    • At least one letter from an anesthesiologist
    • A letter addressing clinical performance and professionalism
    • A department chair or program director letter, when available

Applicant Review

Applications are reviewed holistically. Consideration is given to academic performance, clinical experiences, examination results, letters of recommendation, research and scholarly activity, leadership, service, personal qualities, and the applicant’s demonstrated interest in anesthesiology.

Interviews

Selected applicants will be invited to interview with faculty and residents. Interview information, dates, and format will be communicated through Thalamus.

Signaling

Given our exceptionally high application volume and our commitment to conducting thorough, holistic reviews, an interview invitation without a program signal is highly unlikely. We share this guidance directly to help applicants make informed, cost-effective decisions when building their application lists.

  • Signaled Applications: All applicants who submit a Gold or Silver signal receive full, prioritized holistic review by our selection committee. We value both tiers as meaningful expressions of genuine interest in our program and community.
  • Non-Signaled Applications: Due to the volume of signaled applications received each year, non-signaled applications will be reviewed only after all signaled applications have been evaluated and solely if interview capacity remains. As a practical matter, applicants should not anticipate an interview invitation without submitting a signal.
  • Geographic Preferences: We review geographic preferences in conjunction with program signals. If you have ties to the region, highlighting them alongside your signal provides valuable context during holistic review.
