Transplantation Nephrology

Tulane Nephrology & Hypertension offers a 1-year Transplant Nephrology Fellowship. This fellowship is accredited by the American Society of Transplantation (AST).  Applicants must complete two years of ACGME accredited Nephrology training to be eligible.  Please see Application for information on how to apply.

 

Clinical Training - Transplant Nephrology

The Transplant Fellow will perform ultrasound guided kidney biopsies for both inpatients and outpatients.  The fellow will also participate in both living and cadaver donor selection and management and will observe organ procurement procedures and kidney transplant operations.  During fellowship training, the fellow will learn the critical aspects of transplant immunology, tissue typing and matching, flow cytometry, DNA allotyping, and utilization of other basic genetic and molecular diagnostic techniques for clinical transplantation.
