Each year we have 2 residents join our five-year combined residency program.
We accept applications for PGY-1 positions through ERAS (Electronic Residency Application Services) and match through NRMP (National Residency Matching Program) only.
The following materials are required for a completed application to Tulane Triple Board Program:
- Application through ERAS.
- Official medical school transcript.
- Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE) / “Dean's letter”
- Personal statement.
- Three letters of recommendation from faculty (Minimal one letter from Psychiatry or Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and one letter from Pediatrics or Family Medicine).
- Step 1 or COMLEX 1 completed with score released in ERAS. (no minimum score requirement)
- Step 2 CK / COMLEX 2CE and Step 2 CS / COMLEX 2PE scores are not required during the pandemic
- We recommend that you complete and submit your ERAS application by the initial release date (September 15).
Triple Board interviews are conducted from November through mid-January. Interviews are by invitation only, and we only invite the number of available interview spots. If you are invited for an interview, you will have 72 hours to respond. We encourage you to interview early. All Tulane interviews are two-day virtual interviews, occurring on Thursday and Friday with many breaks schedule throughout both days to minimize fatigue.
What to Expect on the Interview Day: You will be interviewed by faculty and residents from all three components: pediatrics, general and child and adolescent psychiatry. You'll attend Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Grand Rounds. You'll have plenty of time to interact with not only our awesome Triple Board residents, but also categorical residents from the three programs. It is sure to give you a great overview of our program here at Tulane. We also have a dedicated social with Triple Board residents, which we encourage you to attend to get to know your future family better!
