Application Requirements
- Education
- Applicants are required to have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education prior to matriculation into the program.
- Prerequisite Coursework
- Required courses
- Two semesters of biology (with lab preferred)
- Two semesters of chemistry (with lab preferred)
- One semester of mathematics (statistics recommended)
- One semester of English composition
- Recommended courses
- General chemistry (with lab preferred)
- Organic chemistry (with lab preferred)
- Human Anatomy
- Physiology
- Biochemistry
- Histology
- Microbiology
- Physics
- Medical Terminology
- Applicants must complete the necessary prerequisites for matriculation within 10 years of their application submission date. Each required prerequisite course needs to meet the minimum semester hours listed above, receive a final grade of a “C” or better, and must be taken at an accredited institution of higher education prior to matriculation into the program.
- Letters of Recommendation
- Three letters of recommendation from individuals who can speak to the applicant’s educational capabilities, work ethic, and professionalism. These must be signed by the writer on appropriate letterhead.
- Experience
- Evidence of exposure to anatomic pathology is required. Shadowing or work experience is highly recommended.
- Letter of Intent/Personal Essay outlining the applicant’s academic and professional goals (400-800 words)
- Shadowing and/or Work Experience Essay outlining the applicant’s experience in anatomic pathology (400-800 words)
- Grade Point Average
- A minimum overall and science grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is recommended prior to matriculation into the program.
- Transcripts
- Official transcripts from each college, university, and community college previously or currently attended are required. Transcripts must be sent directly from each institution.
- Resume or Curriculum Vitae
- A resume or curriculum vitae is required.
- Interview
- A personal interview with faculty members is required.
- Tests
- If your cumulative GPA is < 3.0 you must submit GRE scores from within the last three years
