Application Information

  • Online submission of the application will open on October 2, 2023
  • Applicants need:
    • 250-word statement on why the applicant is interested in the program
    • Official or unofficial transcript should be received by the application deadline
    • Two letters of recommendation will be due by the application deadline*
  • Application deadline is 11:59 pm CT on December 15, 2023
    • If your institution does not have final grades submitted before December 15, please submit the transcript to us no later than January 2, 2024.
  • Virtual interviews will be given to the top applicants in early February of 2024
  • Applicants will be notified of their acceptance by March of 2024

*Please Note: Letters of Recommendation must be addressed to Dr. Jacquelyn Turner and emailed to generalsurgeryeducation@tulane.edu.

Please put "IMPRESS Letters of Rec - (first and last name)" in the email's subject line.

Schedule

The IMPRESS program will take place from June 3rd to July 3rd 2024.
 

Week 1: Surgery and Internal Medicine Rotations, didactics, simulation

Week 2-4: Surgery and Internal Medicine Rotations, didactics, simulation

Week 5: Surgery and Internal Medicine Rotations, didactics, simulation, End-of-Program Awards Luncheon

 

Didactic Topics: Intro to Research, Medical Ethics and Etiquette, MCAT prep, Interviewing Skills, Medical School Application Tips, CV building, Financial Planning, Wellness

Simulation Topics: Suturing, Knot Tying, Intro to Laparoscopic Surgery, Intro to Robotic Surgery, Intro to Endoscopy

Other Program Benefits
