Tulane medical student named to board of Student National Medical Association

Kiersten "Keke" Sydnor, M.S., has been appointed to the position of Region III Director of the Student National Medical Association, the nation’s oldest and largest independent, student-run organization focused on the needs and concerns of underrepresented medical students.

As a first-year medical student, Kiersten was selected to join the 2024-2025 Region III SNMA Board of Directors as the Diversity Research Liaison and has now been appointed the Region III Director for the 2025- 2027 term, representing seven states in the south and southwestern US. Now a second-year student, Kiersten hopes to become a practicing surgeon at an academic institution where she can continue her research career as a physician-scientist. Outside of her commitments as a medical student, she works for Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, where she has been employed by the Department of Neurologic Surgery since 2021 as a research protocol specialist.
