The success of basic, translational, and clinical research relies on four critical components: sample integrity, precise and timely processing, reliable storage, and secure shipment. These elements are essential for generating accurate and trustworthy data. For over 30 years, the Clinical Trials Cooperative (CTC) Core Laboratory has provided these vital services, supporting clinical research through collaborations with investigators from Tulane University, external institutions, and private companies.
The CTC Core Laboratory serves as a centralized facility for the collection, management, and distribution of clinical specimens for its collaborators. In addition to these services, the laboratory conducts both standard and custom molecular biology analyses, biomarker multiplex immunoassays, and validates new tests for translational studies. The lab personnel are highly trained to manage the pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical phases of study-specific methodologies.
The CTC Core Laboratory is highly experienced in managing specimens for clinical trials at all phases, including those aimed at obtaining FDA approval. The laboratory holds IQA, GLP, and IATA certifications and utilizes advanced data management systems compliant with 21 CFR Part 11, Section 508, and other regulatory requirements for maintaining data integrity, security, and confidentiality. The CTC Core Lab personnel strictly adhere to HIPAA regulations to safeguard patient privacy and ensure the secure management of sensitive health information.
