Faculty Evaluations

Annual Faculty Evaluation (AFE) Process

All School of Medicine (SOM) faculty participate in the Annual Faculty Evaluation (AFE) process, which provides structured feedback on academic performance and progress toward promotion and tenure, as applicable. Faculty receive evaluations from their Department Chair and/or immediate supervisor.

Faculty are evaluated across the following areas, as applicable:

  • Teaching
  • Research and scholarship
  • Patient care
  • Service
  • Administration
  • Professionalism and citizenship
  • Progress toward promotion and/or tenure

The AFE process serves as an important opportunity to recognize accomplishments, provide constructive feedback, identify challenges, and establish goals for the upcoming academic year.

This policy applies to all departments and all faculty within the School of Medicine.
