Dive into Med School for a Day: Applications Now Open!

The Tulane Med Student for a Day program offers pre-med students a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of academic medicine. Hosted by the Office of Multicultural Affairs at Tulane University School of Medicine, the program returns on July 22 and is currently accepting applications from undergraduate students at Tulane, Xavier University of Louisiana, SUNO, UNO, Loyola, and other pre-health and pre-med programs.

This exciting pathway program has already paved the way for many aspiring doctors. Five attendees of the 2022 Med Student for a Day are now medical students at Tulane! This year, a cohort of about 30 students will dive deep into learning about the admissions process, how financial aid actually works, and more. Participants will also engage in hands-on medical simulation activities and dynamic patient case team discussions.

Last year’s participants raved about their experience. “This was very uplifting to see the very diverse ways that some people take before entering medical school,” one student wrote. “Additionally, it was clear that all of these individuals chose Tulane because it is Tulane, not because it was the only place that took them.”

“Amazing experience!” said another student. “I think this was the most helpful experience I have had so far while applying to medical school. I felt like the insight will truly help me with my cycle.”

2024's Med Student for a Day will take place on July 22, and applications can be submitted here through 5 p.m. CST on June 15. If there are questions about the program or application, please email Dr. Bennetta Horne at bhorne1@tulane.edu
