Four Tulane Medicine graduates named to distinguished Tulane 34 cohort
The annual Tulane 34 Awards recognize a select group of students who demonstrate exemplary leadership, service, and academic excellence during their time at Tulane. Four graduating medical students from Tulane University School of Medicine are among the Class of 2024 cohort.
Edith Amponsah earned her Doctor of Medicine degree and will complete her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Duke University. While at Tulane, Edith started a labor support group for patients delivering at Tulane Lakeside Hospital, led various programs at the School of Medicine, and was named a DeBakey Scholar.
Tuhin Choudhary graduated with a Doctor of Medicine and a Master of Public Health in Social, Behavioral, and Population Sciences. Tuhin helped relaunch and restructure the Fleur de Vie NOLA East Clinic, which had been on hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. She's interning for the U.S. State Department's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief and will soon begin her internal medicine-pediatrics residency at Tulane.
Jeffrey De Mond earned a Doctor of Medicine and a Master of Public Health in Global Community Health and Behavioral Sciences. De Mond served as class president throughout their medical school career, and peers selected them for membership in the Gold Humanism Honor Society for exemplary compassion in the care of patients. Jeffrey was also named a junior inductee into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. Jeffery will complete a general surgery residency at Oregon Health and Science University.
Tina K. Reddy graduated with a Doctor of Medicine and a Master of Public Health and was named to the Alpha Omega Alpha and Gold Humanism honor societies. She volunteered with local programs, including the Healthy Heart Community Prevention Project, and served as a leader of the student-run clinic at Bridge House. After graduation, Tina and her fiancé, whom she met at Tulane, will start residency training in internal medicine at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore.
