Give Green 2022 at Tulane University School of Medicine surpasses last year’s total
The numbers have been tallied and this year’s Give Green Day exceeded all expectations. Tulane University School of Medicine received a total of 261 gifts, an increase of 62 gifts from 2021, which resulted in a total of $51,713 raised in just one day. These generous donations will help fund research, strategic initiatives, EDI efforts and student programs at the School of Medicine.
Here’s a breakdown of the gifts to each fund:
The Dean’s Fund for Excellence received 107 donations totaling $31,900. This flexible fund supports scholarships to the best and brightest students; the ability to recruit top faculty, researchers, and clinicians; and funding for groundbreaking research and innovation.
The Adopt-A-Student Scholarship Fund received 59 donations totaling $6,790. This fund helps ensure that a Tulane School of Medicine degree remains accessible to students from a diverse array of backgrounds.
The Dean’s Discovery Fund for Medical Research received 46 donations totaling $5,710. This fund provides vital assistance for breakthroughs taking place every day, supporting everything from pilot funding to a young researcher with an exciting new idea, or support for an established project currently between grants.
The Diversity and Inclusiveness Initiatives Fund received 78 donations totaling $7,340. This directly supports the Office of Multicultural Affairs to fund initiatives such as academic support, faculty support, programs related to social justice and health disparities, or pipeline programs spanning the entire educational spectrum for medicine, including high school, undergraduate, medical school, residency, and fellowship.
The generous gifts helped the School of Medicine unlock a challenge from Dr. David Weill (A&S '86, M *90), School of Medicine Board of Governors member. After surpassing 75 individual gifts to the School of Medicine, Dr. Weill donated an additional $10,000 to the Dean’s Fund for Excellence.
Thank you to everyone who supported Give Green!
