New Faculty Hire: Dan Spell, MD

Tulane School of Medicine and John W. Deming Department of Medicine welcomes:

Dan Spell, MD, Instructor of Medicine, Section of General Internal Medicine, Geriatrics, and Palliative Medicine

Dr. Dan Spell joined the Section of General Internal Medicine, Geriatrics, and Palliative Care as an Instructor of Medicine in 2024. A native of Ocilla, Georgia—a small town in the southern part of the state—Dr. Spell earned a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture in Biological Sciences, with a minor in Theatre, from the University of Georgia. He pursued his medical education at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, graduating in 2021, followed by a residency in Internal Medicine at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama, which he completed in 2024.

Dr. Spell joins Tulane University's School of Medicine as an academic hospitalist within the Section of General Internal Medicine and Geriatrics, continuing a family legacy inspired by his sister. His clinical interests include advocacy, health policy, and substance abuse. Outside of his professional duties, Dr. Spell enjoys spending time on the disc golf course.
