Tulane MD/MBA program helps medical students become leaders

You came to medical school with plans to work in private practice or a health system. Have you ever considered what it takes to run one?

The A.B. Freeman School of Business at Tulane University offers MD/MBA dual degree programs for medical students interested in gaining a deeper understanding of the business side of healthcare, from finance and strategy to leadership and resource management. Applications are now open for the next cohort of MD/MBA students.

Students can choose from two pathways:

Accelerated 4-Year MD/MBA: A fully integrated program that allows students to earn both degrees within the traditional medical school timeline.

Traditional 5-Year MD/MBA: A cohort-based option that provides a more immersive business school experience.

Both programs provide a foundation in finance, management, and strategy that can complement a medical education. For students interested in hospital or health system leadership, private practice ownership, healthcare entrepreneurship, or other roles beyond clinical care, the MBA can provide a deeper understanding of the decisions and systems that shape healthcare delivery.
