The section has initiated a formal Sedation Service, organized and implemented by the Director of PICU , Dr. Olugbenga Akingbola. Sedation services are to be available to pediatric practitioners to assist with procedures and imaging studies on both an in-patient and an out-patient basis.
The physicians, nurses and allied medical care professionals who work in the PICU have the knowledge, skill and judgment to quickly assess and treat your child to achieve the best outcomes possible from critical illness or injury.
In addition to services for Children's Hospital New Orleans, the Critical Care Section is contracted with University Medical Center New Orleans (UMCNO) to provide consulting services for pediatric trauma patients there 24 hours per day, 7- days per week.
