Having joined the Section of General Internal Medicine in 2017. Dr. Burke works as a consulting physician at both University Medical Center and the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Healthcare System. She is responsible for helping develop the Supportive/Palliative consulting service and outpatient Palliative Care Clinic at University Medical Center; she also is the Lead Ambulatory Physician at the outpatient Palliative Medicine clinic at UMC. Dr. Burke and her Palliative Medicine colleagues contributed to the development of the first Academic Palliative Medicine team in the region in 2017, and to the establishment of the first Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship in the state of Louisiana in 2018.
