Cardiology-Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowship

The EP fellow will receive training in all aspects of cardiac electrophysiology, and will have increasing exposure and responsibility in invasive procedures including diagnostic electrophysiology studies, mapping and catheter ablation of supraventricular and ventricular tachycardias, transvenous and subcutaneous cardiac device implantation/extraction and left atrial appendage closure devices in the EP laboratory. The Fellow will also become competent in non-invasive procedures such as cardioversions and tilt table testing. In addition to electrophysiology and cardiac device outpatient clinics, the trainee will consult on inpatients with arrhythmias and implanted devices at our three participating sites: Tulane Medical Center, University Medical Center of New Orleans, and Southeast Louisiana Veterans Healthcare System Medical Center, providing exposure to diverse patient populations and hospital organizations. The Fellow will spend time in both the electrophysiology and cardiac device outpatient clinics affording the trainee the opportunity to observe and manage patients longitudinally, and to gain experience with device follow-up and management.

The Tulane University School of Medicine Office of Graduate Medical Education (GME) is responsible for ensuring that all residents and fellows at Tulane University School of Medicine are provided an accredited, educational experience of the highest quality. This two-year Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowship program complies with all ACGME requirements, in addition to following the guidelines and recommendations of the American College of Cardiology's Core Cardiovascular Training Statement (COCATS).

At the end of the training period, Fellows will be equipped with the knowledge, skills and abilities to meet the requirements for certification in Clinical Cardiac Electrophsyiology, as determined by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.
