THRCE News

World Kidney Day 2023

In honor of the 2023 World Kidney Day (WKD), THRCE hosted two events.  The events were scheduled at the following times:

  • 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM: TULANE WKD HEALTH SCREENING
A health screening was conducted in the second-floor lobby of Tulane University Hospital and Clinics. This event was co-sponsored by the THRCE and the National Kidney Foundation of Louisiana (NKFLA). The goal of the Health Screening fair was to screen participants for blood pressure and the risk for developing kidney disease.
Six Tulane Medical students volunteered their valuable time and services at the Health Fair. Their names were: Dora Dujmic, Arman Raz, Nadia Salib, Leilani Gammada, and Eva Kruger.  Also at the event, Community Development and Programs Manager at the NKFLA, Ms. Tracey Eldridge, spoke to participants and provided brochures informing them of the various risk for developing kidney disease.  The event was a success where over 100 participants had their blood pressure checked and were provided brochures and information about kidney diseases.
  • 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM: SPECIAL WKD SEMINAR
A Special WKD Seminar was set-up that was presented by the distinguished, Dr. L. Gabriel Navar.  This was a hybrid presentation that was accessible via zoom. The CEO of the NKFLA, Torie Kranz, gave a brief talk before Dr. Navar's presentation.   You may access the presentation via the following link: 2023 WKD Presentation

Below are some pictures taken of the various 2023 WKD activities organized by THRCE.
