Welcome to the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery
The Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Tulane University School of Medicine is defining a new era of heart and thoracic care for the Gulf South. With rapidly expanding programs across the Greater New Orleans region, our surgeons deliver the full spectrum of adult cardiothoracic care, from complex valve and aortic surgery to coronary revascularization, minimally invasive and robotic thoracic procedures, and advanced mechanical circulatory support. The team also provides the surgical leadership and expertise driving Tulane’s growing heart transplant program, positioning the institution as a regional destination for advanced heart failure and transplant care.
With an expanding hub at East Jefferson General Hospital and strong partnerships throughout LCMC Health, the division plays a central role in developing comprehensive pathways for cardiogenic shock, durable VAD support, and heart transplantation. Multidisciplinary collaboration is embedded in everything we do, ensuring seamless, high-quality care for patients with the most complex cardiac and thoracic needs.
As an academic division, we are committed to training the next generation of cardiothoracic surgeons and advancing the field through research, innovation, and continuous program development. Together, these efforts are elevating Tulane into a bold new chapter of cardiothoracic excellence across the Gulf South.
