Tulane Medicine researchers among winners at 2024 TRICS
The 2024 Tulane Research, Innovation, and Creativity Summit (TRICS) recognized the exceptional contributions of its community, including notable members from the School of Medicine. The summit, held at Tulane University from April 23-25, was a vibrant showcase of scientific research and innovation.
Among the distinguished honorees, Eman Toraih, MD, MSc., PhD, DBio, received an honorable mention for the TRICS Innovation and Technology Development Award, which recognized the poster with the most potential for successful commercialization. Dr. Toraih, an Assistant Professor, Medical Genetics, Biostatistics, Bioinformatics in the Department of Surgery, presented her poster, "Mmp9/Mir-145 Ratio: A Robust Diagnostic and Prognostic Biomarker for Personalized Management Of Thyroid Cancer."
Rebecca Solch-Ottaiano, PhD, an Instructor of Neurology at the Tulane Center for Clinical Neurosciences, also earned an honorable mention in the TRICS Innovation and Societal Impact Award category for her innovative research on "Diet-modulated Fecal Microbiota Transplantation on Cognitive Function." The award recognized posters demonstrating significant societal impact as defined by the National Science Foundation's broader impacts criteria, which include societal well-being, inclusion, and STEM education.
