Tulane Residency Program in Obstetrics and Gynecology is about generating academic leaders in Obstetrics & Gynecology as well as outstanding practitioners of the specialty. Educational excellence, clinical distinction, community care service, research prowess and development of teaching and leadership skills are our mission.

Program Aims

Our educational program is rooted in clinical obstetrics and gynecology and its sub-specialties. General Obstetrics and Gynecology is taught in nearly all the rotations during the four years of residency. We aim on our physicians acquiring proficiency in all areas of women's reproductive health. We train our residents to be responsible in all aspects of their career...and we do this with a system that augments autonomy and independent decision-making. Residents are given increasingly greater responsibility for patient care through hospital in-patient, out-patient clinics, and obstetrical and gynecological surgical procedures. The resident as student educator is emphasized throughout the program. Student teaching and "teaching assistant surgeon" opportunities occur daily during training. Research activities are vital to our reputation as an academic institution and it is our faculty's responsibility to offer to residents the stae-of-the-art in the profession, therefore, a research project is required during residency training in addition to the yearly requirement of a quailty improvement project.
