Tulane Lakeside Hospital

Study Space

1. River Boat Room:
This room is used for many other activities, but when not in use, this room is available for students as study space. Usually open from 8am - 5pm.

To book/use this room: You must check schedule posted outside door before emailing Denise Jochum at Denise.jochum@hcahealthcare.com and request a reservation at your desired date and time.

*If room is locked during regular business hours, Ms. Denise will be able to open the room. She can be found in the administration offices within the hospital. If booked after business hours, students will need to have hospital security open room for them.

2. Second Floor Postpartum Conference room:
Located at the end of the postpartum wing across from patient room 208, this space is used for some rounding, interdepartmental conference meetings and is available for study space.

3. Hospital Cafeteria Vending Machine/Concession Area:
Next to cafeteria on 1st floor; open 24/7 with available tables and chairs. Once main cafeteria closes at 2 pm, this concession area is less busy.

4. 1st Floor by OR Suites:
Down the hall from the doors to the OR suites are doors to the lounges, both male and female lounges use key codes. *Code access is required and available from the clerkship coordinator.

4th floor, in Sleep Rooms: 8 Lockers have been added with locks (4 red locks for Peds, 4 blue locks for OB) *Code access is required and available from the clerkship coordinator.

University Medical Center

Study Space

All Students:

1st floor conference area D&T building, room 1515 A-D, Library/Computer access

1st floor D&T building, room 1500, Relaxation space/lounge There is internet, about 20 computers, phones, sofas, chairs. Access with an ID.

Ob/Gyn: 5th floor outpatient clinic space (5C) resident work room

Neurology: Conference room - in the hospital on the 3rd floor of Tower 2, Classroom 32A. There are tables, computers, and storage space for personal items (This room is used exclusively by Tulane Neurology and is located in the hall that leads into the hospital rooms, just outside the elevators).

Medicine: Small room used only for group study

Southeast Louisiana VA Medical Center

Study Space

2nd and 3rd floor of the inpatient tower.
There is an additional work room being reallocated to trainees, in November 2018, on the 4th floor.

Library - full-time librarian, books, and computers on the 1st floor.

Several cubicles with computers available to students in the administration building.

All public spaces (atriums, lobbys, cafeteria, etc.) are available

Physician’s Lounge and the OR Lounge

Ochsner Foundation Hospital (Pediatrics)

Study Space

Student lounge in the Medical Education Building has space for group study.

Pediatrics rounding room has space for group study and computers available to students.

Conference Room on Pediatrics floor has space available for group study.

Medical Library on first floor has space available for individual study and computers available to students.

Secure Storage

Lockers are available in the Medical Education Building and in the student/resident lounge in the hospital.

Students must bring their own lock.

Children's Hospital of New Orleans

Study Space

Students can study in the 2 Center conference room, except when it is in use for didactic sessions, in which case additional study space is available in the 1st floor hospital concourse or in the Tulane Pediatrics Admin suite in the State Street Administrative building.

Students can store belongings in the Resident Lounge on 2 Center. 

East Jefferson Hospital

Study Space

Medical Students have either badge access or access to all of the below at EJG:

Academic Library (1st floor) – badge access. Secure spot for study, computer work. Also has relaxation space and study tables with white boards.

  • Has roughly 80 lockers. Bring your own lock. Remove the lock and any contents when your rotation ends.
  • 25 computers, printer, whiteboards for teaching

5 Workrooms within hospital unit

  • Badge access for security
  • All with cubbies for personal items
  • Computer work with residents/fellows on team.
  • 8-10 computers per room, printer
  • Assignment as follows:
    • 7th floor: All medical subspecialty programs (eg. Heme/Onc, ID etc)
    • 6th and 5th floor: Internal Medicine teams
    • 3rd floor: All surgical subspecialty programs (eg. Surg, ortho, ENT)
    • 2nd floor: All cardiology programs (eg. EP, IC, CT surg)

5 Medical Team Workrooms within hospital units

  • 5th floor: 2 rooms for 2 NCCU teams
  • 3rd floor: 1 room for medical ICU team, 1 room for surgical ICU team

Resident provides code to enter. Two call rooms and open seating in lounge area (couch/chairs/table).

Baton Rouge General Hospital

Study Space

1st Floor Library, No Access Code or ID required, 9 Computers. The hospital library is located on the first floor and has multiple computer stations, a copier machine, and the GME librarian is there to answer any questions. The library is also open 24/7 and if for any reason the door is locked, the student can contact security and they will open it for them. Students are given security contact information before they start just in case that happens.

On the 4th Floor, there is a student lounge equipped with a refrigerator, microwave, dining table/chairs, and a desk with a computer. The lounge is accessible 24/7 and students do not need a code to access it. It is located in the same area as GME sleep room 1.

Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care Systems, Biloxi, Ms (Psychiatry)

Study Space

Students are given office #1C162, 1st Floor, Psych Building #25 for study space with a computer.
Students are issued a key to that office.

Students are issued a key for the locker/cabinet to store their belongings. The locker/cabinet is located inside the office.

Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast

Study Space

Health center assistant workstation area (shared area) and clinician work station. Student is given a tour of clinic space at orientation.

Secure Storage

Health Center Assistant workstation area. It is a shared space with cabinets to store personal items. Items can also be stored in the clinic manager’s office (locked).

Willis-Knighton Hospital South
