Purpose:
The mini-grant awards are intended to promote collaboration and synergy among faculty of Tulane University School of Medicine, to strongly encourage educational research relationships between departments within the institution, and to foster research and scholarship in undergraduate medical education:
Under the guidance of the Society of Teaching Scholars, the Mini-Grant Program supports:
- Expanding the base of nationally competitive undergraduate medical education research activity leading to the potential for increased extramural support for medical education research at Tulane University
- Elevating the visibility and reputation of Tulane University School of Medicine Faculty for teaching excellence and scholarly accomplishment
- Strengthening the school’s educational offerings by providing medical students and junior faculty with opportunities to participate in educational research, scholarship, and creative activity
Full-time faculty may apply for Undergraduate Medical Education Mini-Grants for up to $2000 to support innovations in teaching and learning activities that will lead to educational research and scholarship in undergraduate medical education. Follow-up:
Award recipients shall submit a brief final report summarizing their activities. With permission, information from effective and innovative projects will be posted on the Office of Medical Education website. Recipients who attend a teaching conference shall share materials from the conference and present a workshop at Tulane School of Medicine on what they learned. In addition, selected mini-grant recipients may be invited to present their projects.
