Meals

Educational Fund
$700.00 per year, not to exceed $2,800.00 per four-year program for residents
Funds can be used for educational/professional registration, books, and dues.
The Department may provide funds, over and above the educational fund, to cover expenses when a resident is presenting a paper or poster at one national meeting annually. Covered expenses include poster printing, travel, two-night hotel stay, and registration fees. Advance permission is required.
PGY1 residents can choose between:
- Rosai and Ackerman's Surgical Pathology (2-Volume Set)
- Henry's Clinical Diagnosis and Management by Laboratory Methods
OR
- Apple iPad
A desktop computer and microscope is provided for each resident.
Parking
Parking is free at a majority of the hospital sites, including East Jefferson General Hospital and University Medical Center. Parking at Tulane's downtown campus will be reimbursed by the department.
Insurance
United Health Care health insurance is provided to residents at no cost. Family health coverage is available and is paid for by the resident.
Optional dental insurance and vision insurance is provided through United Health Care and is available to residents and their families. It is paid for by the resident.
A $25,000 life insurance policy is provided at no cost to residents.
Disability insurance is provided at no cost to residents.
Malpractice insurance is provided at no cost to residents.
