Pathology & Laboratory Medicine Residency Benefits

FIRST YEAR RESIDENTS RECEIVE:
Rosai and Ackerman's Surgical Pathology (2-Volume Set with CD-ROM).
Henry's Clinical Diagnosis and Management by Laboratory Methods.

Computer and microscope provided for each resident.

Vacation

15 days vacation for first year residents.
20 days vacation for second-fourth year residents and fellows.

Sick Leave

10 days sick leave for all residents/fellows.

Educational Leave

Five (5) days educational leave for all residents/fellows.

Presentation Expenses

The Department may provide funds, over and above the Book/Travel Fund, to cover expenses when a resident is presenting a paper or poster at a national meeting. Covered expenses include travel, hotel for day before and day of presentation, and registration fees. Advance permission is required.

Travel/Book Fund

$500.00 per year not to exceed $2,000.00 per four year program for residents.
Funds can be used for educational/professional registration, books, dues.

Parking

Parking is provided for residents.

Beeper

Beepers are provided for the duration of the residencies.

Health Insurance

United Health Care health insurance is provided to residents at no cost.  Family health coverage is available and is paid for by the residents.

Dental Insurance

Optional dental insurance is provided through Paid Dental Insurance Company and is available to residents and their families. It is paid for by the residents.

Life Insurance

A $25,000 life insurance policy is provided at no cost to residents.

Disability Insurance

Disability insurance is provided at no cost to the residents.

Malpractice Insurance

Malpractice insurance is provided at no cost to the residents.
