Each year we have 7 categorical PGY-1 openings, 1 opening for our Child fast-track program, as well as additional openings in our combined Internal Medicine/Psychiatry and Pediatrics/Psychiatry/Child-Psychiatry (Triple Board) programs.
We accept applications for PGY-1 positions through ERAS (Electronic Residency Application Services) only. Inquiries about our training programs may be directed to: psychres@tulane.edu

The following materials are required for a completed application to Tulane Psychiatry Residency Program:
- Application through ERAS
- Dean's letter
- Three letters of recommendation from faculty (Only one letter must be from Psychiatry, however we prefer two if available, and we prefer the letters with preceptors with whom you have worked)
- Personal statement
- Official medical school transcript and MSPE
- Step 1 or COMLEX 1 completed with score released in ERAS
- Step 2CK / COMLEX 2CE is recommended but not required for interview, however is required prior to final ranking for the Match
We recommend that you complete and submit your ERAS application by the initial release date (September 25). We will occasionally send out invitations before all components are in the file, however the bulk of interview invites will be extended after all components are received by the program. All applications must be received through ERAS by mid November.
Interviews are conducted on Fridays from mid-October through the end of January.
- Pre-Interview: All Tulane interviews are on Friday from approximately 10:00 am to 3:30 pm. Applicants are invited to join current residents for an informal Zoom Social Hour on Thursday night.
- What to Expect on the Interview Day: Your virtual interview day will begin with an introduction to the program from our chief residents. From there you will then receive a brief tour at a few of our facilities including our inpatient hospitals and outpatient clinics. At 11 am there will be a coffee-talk with the residents. At noon, you will attend our weekly Grand Rounds. You will then have one-on-one interviews with faculty and the Program Director. If you are invited to interview, a more detailed itinerary will be provided. Applicants are also invited to a virtual happy hour on Thursday night prior to the interview and are strongly encouraged to attend.
We accept applicants participating in the couples match. Please provide the name of your matchmate and the residency program to which he/she is applying in your ERAS application.
