Our training program comes through a four year didactic curriculum and at a variety of clinical sites where our residents rotate. We have affiliations with Tulane Hospital, University Medical Center, New Orleans VA Medical Center, and St. Charles Parish Hospital. By working in the various systems, residents treat a very diverse patient population and understand the dynamic approaches to treatment which are available. There are several sub-specialty tracks also available at Tulane. These include: a solid triple board program in psychiatry-child/adolescent psychiatry-pediatrics, combined residency in Internal Medicine-Psychiatry, our fellowships in child & adolescent psychiatry, forensic psychiatry, and addiction psychiatry; a chief resident in Quality Improvement position; an academic clinician educator track for those interested in teaching or research, and a research pathway. Our training program is also very active in the local community, with diverse partnerships with a number of local organizations, clinics, and schools.

New Orleans is also a wonderful place for training because you will work with patients from many different cultures and backgrounds. You will gain experience in treating those who have unfortunately experienced multiple traumas and need assistance in working through these experiences. Through exposure to patients at a variety of public, private, and veteran-affiliated treatment facilities, you will become well-versed in the treatment of a wide breadth of mental illness.

Information is available in the right-side menu about applications to the Adult Psychiatry training program, as well as more information about our residents and staff. Please feel free to contact us if there's a question that isn't answered here. We look forward to meeting you!
