Curriculum

Psychiatry residents learning

Coursework is divided by PGY year, focussing initially on basics of psychiatric diagnosis, psychopharmacology, and introduction to psychotherapy modalities. Each module builds on the previous, with the goal to enable you to have the necessary knowledge to provide your patients with the best evidenced-based treatment approach.  Formal didactics are usually two half-afternoons per week, with additional sessions in your PGY-3 year focussed on intensive psychotherapy training and case discussion.  Learning also happens every day at our multitude of training sites, with both formal and informal sessions from Physician staff.

See the links to the side to learn more about some of our modules, as well as specific programs in for those interested in research or education.  If you have a specific question about didactics not answered here, please email us at psychres@tulane.edu.
