Tulane Medical Center (TMC)

Tulane Medical Center is an acclaimed teaching, research, and medical facility, serving the greater New Orleans area. The hospital is jointly owned by Tulane University and Hospital Corporations of America (HCA). Psychiatry residents will be stationed here as part of their 4-month medicine rotations during intern year as well as working on the ED and Consult-Liaison service during their PGY2 year. As a PGY3 and PGY4 you will also get to work in the Tulane University Behavioral Health Clinic (TUBC) on the fourth floor of the hospital. Residents create their own census of therapy and/or medication management patients based on their own individual patient preferences, picking up patients from a master referral list.

University Medical Center New Orleans is a $1.1 billion state-of-the-art hospital containing the city's only Behavioral Health Emergency Room (ER). Southern Louisiana Veterans Health Care System (SLVHCS) / New Orleans Veterans' Affairs Hospital (VA)

The New Orleans VA Hospital provides care to nearly 70,000 veterans in the region, ranging from Western Mississippi to Eastern Texas. This beautifully constructed facility provides both inpatient and outpatient mental health services as well as other specialized Mental Health Programs including Geriatric Psychiatry, PTSD treatment, Group Therapy, Homeless Services, Substance Abuse Treatment, home-based management of chronic mental illnesses (Mental Health Intensive Case Management / MHICM), and a compensated work therapy program. During their PGY1 year residents will experience working both on the inpatient general medicine floor as well as the inpatient psychiatric unit ("5D"), as a PGY2 you will get to experience working with some of the above mentioned specialized Mental Health Programs including MHICM and Geriatric Psychiatry, and as a PGY3/PGY4 you will work in our ambulatory mental health clinic providing both medication management and therapy to our veterans.

St. Charles Parish Hospital - Ochsner Health ("St. Charles”)

St Charles Parish Hospital is an Ochsner Health affiliated hospital with both an inpatient General Psychiatric- and Med-Psych unit. The Med-Psych unit, consisting of 10 beds, is the only unit of its kind in Louisiana providing an experience unparalleled by other residency programs in the area. Rotating here also provides trainees with experience working in a community hospital as opposed to the other hospitals we work at which are all located around New Orleans’ city center. Residents will rotate on both the General Psychiatric- and Med-Psych units during their PGY2 year and are able to do optional internal moonlighting on weekends during their PGY3 and PGY4.

Children's Hospital New Orleans (CHNOLA)

Children’s Hospital New Orleans is a state of the art 222-bed pediatric medical center which serves as the first and largest full-service hospital in Louisiana and the Gulf South. In addition, the hospital has 10 dedicated behavioral health emergency room beds and serves as one of the largest pediatric inpatient psychiatric units in the country. The hospital’s partnership with both Tulane University and LSU Health promotes a culture of educational enhancement, innovation, and improved access to high quality pediatric care. Residents will get the opportunity to rotate through the behavioral health ER and Consult-Liaison service during their PGY2 year, working alongside Tulane’s Child & Adolescent Psychiatry fellows, and depending on resident’s professional interests there are also elective opportunities to work on their inpatient psychiatric unit as early as intern year.
