Mission Statement:
The Tulane University School of Medicine Wellness Committee was created to coordinate student, resident, and faculty initiatives to create an environment that promotes well-being and builds a foundation for formal wellness programming.
Objectives:
- Promote and increase visibility, utilization, and access to existing mental health and wellness services
- Identify and address unmet needs
- Recruit wellness champions among UME, GME, faculty, and staff
- Initiate new programming to promote mental health and well-being
Organization Structure:
The Tulane SOM Wellness committee is open to all faculty, staff, residents/fellows, and students within the Tulane School of Medicine. Three primary faculty (Geraldine Menard and Karen Weissbecker, with the GME rep position currently vacant) work together with the Program Administrator to lead and develop specific groups within the SOM: faculty and staff, residency/GME, and students. Wellness committee members are invited to participate and focus on any area or multiple areas of the committee. The committee reviews wellness initiatives, creates action plans, and tracks progress on wellness goals.
